We are on the cusp of a revolution in technology as AI sweeps over virtually every industry and grows its capabilities on an almost weekly basis. This is driving fundamental digital transformations industry but also driving a severe skills gap across academia and the global workforce.
As a non-profit 501c3 corporation, a key part of the EDGE AI FOUNDATION mission is to help close that gap by working to bridge academia and industry through the EDGE AIP – the academia-industry partnership.
As part of that effort we developed and funded the EDGE AI SCHOLARSHIP program which helps offset costs to learn about edge AI technologies and to learn curriculum and skills to teach edge AI technologies to students and classrooms around the world.
The EDGE AI SCHOLARSHIP fund is supported by our Strategic Partners as well as our Scholarship Partners who provide value-added services to our community while contributing to the growth of the fund.
One example of the impact of the fund was supporting the Workshop on TinyML for Sustainable Development that was held in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
In 2025 we will be supporting multiple workshops and adding two new elements to the EDGE AI SCHOLARSHIP program:
- EDGE AI FELLOWSHIPS These will be awarded to individuals that will be working directly with the EDGE AI FOUNDATION and the EDGE AIP on new projects and research.
- EDGE AI TRAVEL Grants Program
These grants provide financial support for travel, accommodation, and conference registration to enable selected students and educators to participate in EDGE AI FOUNDATION events and workshops. This initiative is designed to remove financial barriers, ensuring that diverse voices from the academic and professional communities can contribute to and benefit from global AI innovation.
